My Apple Tree

I’ve spent the past few years tending to my branches.

The seed from which my trunk grew carried an inherited toxin.

A rot that almost took over, until it was pruned off.

As symptoms halted, signs of infection were no longer present.

Barren yet tall, this tree could now bare fruit.

With lessons ripening to wisdom, the workings of my shoot system and roots have been detailingly ascertained.

I have gotten to know myself to an extraordinarily high degree.

To fully enjoy the apples of this tree,

One must be well aquainted with themselves.

Grounded in their roots, nurturing their own system,

To grow and facilitate positive environmental impact.

Spotting my red sheen in the sunlight, many have rushed in to hold such delicacy in their hands.

However, the fruit’s delicious nectar is obviously tasted,

By those who sweetly and tenderly bite below the surface.

Ready to participate in the dance of give and take.

Ample time to compose and execute whatever steps they may make.

To co-create a partnership of symbiotic benefit,

Joyously generated of authenticity from you and me.
